5/21/2010 - AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- Airmen from the 510th Fighter Squadron, the "Buzzards," deployed to Afghanistan recently in support of overseas contingency operations bringing with them new technological capabilities.
"This is the first combat deployment for the 510th Fighter Squadron since returning from Iraq in the summer of 2007," said Lt. Col. Greg Sarakatsannis, 510th FS commander. "It also marks the first combat deployment of Common Configuration Implementation Program modified F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 31st Fighter Wing."
Sanders, Harry G. "Harry G. "Paw-Paw" Sanders went Home to be with the LORD June 3, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. He served honorably in the United States Air Force for 30 years and retired a Colonel. Harry is survived by his wife, Thelma J. Sanders, to whom he was married for 68 years; children Steve Sanders and wife Miriam of Carbondale, Illinois, Russell Sanders, Kathy Hodgin Kennedy and husband Mike, and Susy Marr; grandchildren Charles Sanders and wife Shea, Adrianne Hodgin, Marissa Infante and husband Rodney, Rusty Sanders, and Rachael Bingham and husband Chris; great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Madison, and Dominic Sanders, and Jacob Infante. A Memorial Service will be held at 10am, Saturday June 5 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 4015 South Hampton Road, Dallas, Texas 75224. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Presbyterian Hospice of Dallas and/or the American Cancer Society ."

Col. Adrian C. Pone' December 20, 1964 - January 20, 2010
Colonel Adrian C. Pone', formerly of New Paltz, NY died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Ferrara, Italy. Known in the military community as "Kermit", and having served over 22 years in the USAF, Colonel Pone' was the Director of Operations, NATO Combined Air Operations Center Five, at Poggio Renatico, Italy.
Adrian was born December 20, 1964 in Kingston, NY, the son the late Gundaris and Karen (Larson) Pone'. He was raised in New Paltz where he grew to love hunting, camping, and weight training. A devote Catholic, Adrian founded the Aviano AB chapter of the Knights of Columbus.
