Col. Adrian C. Pone' December 20, 1964 - January 20, 2010
Colonel Adrian C. Pone', formerly of New Paltz, NY died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Ferrara, Italy. Known in the military community as "Kermit", and having served over 22 years in the USAF, Colonel Pone' was the Director of Operations, NATO Combined Air Operations Center Five, at Poggio Renatico, Italy.
Adrian was born December 20, 1964 in Kingston, NY, the son the late Gundaris and Karen (Larson) Pone'. He was raised in New Paltz where he grew to love hunting, camping, and weight training. A devote Catholic, Adrian founded the Aviano AB chapter of the Knights of Columbus.

Air Force pilot Lt. Col. Robert R. Scott, of the 510th Fighter Squadron, establishes a new transcontinental speed record (coast-to-coast) by flying 2,245 miles from Los Angeles to Mitchel Field New York in 3 hours, 44 minutes and 53 seconds in a Republic F-84F Thunderstreak jet fighter bomber.

Lt Col David “Face” Nichols is among the most positive commanders I’ve worked with. At Aviano AB, Italy, his enthusiasm and love of the 510th Fighter Squadron, the Buzzards, resonated around the wing. He agreed to share a few words on leadership with us.
People make leadership exciting, complex, frustrating, and rewarding. I approach the challenge with a simple acronym—ICE. It stands for intelligence, compassion, energy, and experience. Let me briefly mention each.
