Monday Morning

Dearest Mom,

I feel sort of funny sitting heree at this time of the morning writing you, for about this time every morning heretofore I have been well into another day's training.  No training today or for a few days hense, for our barracks is under quarantine for the next two weeks.

Since I wrote last Thursday or Friday, things have been going pretty slow.  A lecture on interior guard duty was given on Saturday morning, and Sat. afternoon we had a little seassion on the "cow pasture" -- exercies, games, etc.  The rought stuff was cut short by a measles inspection at the dispensory, but no one in our barracks had the measles, we thought.

Then I got the rawest deal I've ever gotten; I pulled Sunday K.P. for some unexplainable reason the same cadet who was on with me Wednesday and myself were on the Sunday K.P. list.  We could not do a thing about it, either, except go on and work our eighteen hours without a word.  K.P. on Sunday isn't so bad, however; business was pretty light, and we were able to rest a little.  We also got off a couple of hours earlier than usual.  The bad news that we would be in quarentine two weeks was waiting for us when we got off and got back to the barracks.

Worse than anything was the news that we were on shipping orders that came out last night.  That made me and everyone else sick, for if the quarantine had held off twenty-four hours longer, we would have been outof this camp.

Oh! Joy!  The only thing good about quanrantine is that you can sleep as long as you want to each morning, and you can sleep all during the day.  We were very misfortunate to have been confined like this, but I am going to take advantage of it and get some rest and catch up on my letter writing.

Must close for now and go to chow.
