Bien Hoa AB (7AF) - It's official: with the final tabulation of year-end figures, Bien Hoa AB was the busiest airport, military or civilian, in the world throughout 1968.

This III Corps Tactical Zone base, home of the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing, had a 12-month total of 857,679 takeoffs and landings, edging out runner-up Da Nang AB with 846,649 operations. Tan Son Nhut garnered third place with 804,327.

December was a record-setting month for Bien Hoa: the 1877th Comm Sq. and Vietnamese Air Force control tower operators handled 78,321 operations.

O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, busiest commercial terminal, was not even in the running for the record--averaging about 60,000 operations per month.
