Chief Master Sergeant Frank A. Chiariello is the 510th Aircraft Maintenance Unit Superintendent, 31st Aircraft Mainenance Squadron, 31st Maintenance Group, 31st Fighter Wing, Aviano Air Base, Italy. He is the senior enlisted advisor to the professional men and women of the 510th Buzzard AMU on matters concerning the morale, welfare, and readiness of all enlisted personnel assigned. The aircraft maintenance unit consists of five sections made up of 215 personnel that provide safe reliable aircraft maintenance for 25 F-16 aircraft for the 31st Fighter Wing.

Senator John W. Drummond, 96, "The Senator from Ninety Six", widower of Holly Self Drummond, died on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at his home. Born in Ninety Six, he was a son of the late James William and Fannie Mae Smith Drummond. A graduate of Ninety Six High School, he spent his early years working in the Greenwood Mills plants.
About 350 personnel are supporting 20 F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 31st Fighter Wing at Aviano Air Base, Italy, and the 138th Fighter Wing at Tulsa Air National Guard Base, Oklahoma, as part of bilateral flying training with the Polish Air Force.

The U.S. Air Force deployed six F-16 Fighting Falcons from Aviano Air Base, Italy, support equipment and approximately 300 personnel to Incirlik Air Base, Turkey in support of Operation Inherent Resolve Aug. 9, 2015. This follows Turkey’s decision to host the deployment of U.S. aircraft conducting counter-ISIL operations. The U.S. and Turkey, as members of the 60-plus nation coalition, are committed to the fight against ISIL in pursuit of peace and stability in the region.

After two weeks of training with more than 1,500 sorties flown, the multi-national air exercise, Arctic Challenge 2015, has come to an end here June 5, 2015. Airmen from Aviano Air Base, Italy participated in the second Arctic Challenge Exercise with nine other nations.
